Ocean swim like in a pool

After somebody said today that the ocean was full of stingers at the Sorrento Beach, I decided to swim at the Hillarys Marina (Perth, Western Australia). I’ve done it before, and if you swim at a reasonable time during the day, chances are that if there is a shark a lot of people will have seen it by mid morning. Gives me some peace of mind with the Trigg beach closed a few days ago because of a 4 m shark… 😉

It’s an ocean swim in a protected area of the boat harbour, almost like a pool. Even better, because you get to see decent sized fish close to the inner jetty, if people are feeding them.

The lap is 285 m long so a set of 5*2*285m makes a decent 2.850 km swim. Not bad! I measured the distance using a “Google Maps distance calculator“.
