Last long ride before the half IM: Sorrento to past Two Rocks (witn brekky at Joondalup Maccas) = 117 km
The half IM swim course was modified to be parallel to the beach rather than parallel to the jetty.
Weight under control, in awesome shape
This time of the year, again. Working towards my goal. Race day at 67 kg, strong and without starving.
On a different note, to make things more interesting for the Busselton 70.3, there was a fatal shark attack nearby, and Busso beaches were closed several times recently. Competitors received the following note from the organizers:
“Triathlon WA Inc will ensure the provision of maximum duty of care to all participants, volunteers and spectators for the 2012 SunSmart Ironman 70.3 Busselton. The safety of all who attend our event is our highest priority. The SunSmart Ironman 70.3 Busselton Race Contingency Committee (RCC) shall be responsible for determining the plan of action should there be unexpected circumstances, weather conditions or race course situations that may pose a risk of harm or injury to a competitor. Participants should be confident the appropriate additional safety measures will be put in place prior to the event to mitigate any potential harm or injury to participants during the swim leg of the event. The Race Contingency Committee will remain in close dialogue with local Sea Rescue, Rangers and Water Police and Surf Life Saving to monitor and assess the risks and if required the appropriate course changes will be implemented. Should it be a requirement Participants will be informed of any changes in the 48 hours lead up to the event. Currently there are no changes to the current course.” Ought to be fun..!
